Accent Colors

There are many different ways to add color accents to your home or office.  While some people may think about adding artwork or even changing up the furniture, there’s an easier way: bring in flowers!  Flowers do more than just add great color accents—they bring in a great, fresh scent.

You don’t need a huge, expensive arrangement, either.  In fact, sometimes less is more.  A small arrangement of daisies or sunflowers can really pop if set against the right backdrop.  Look at the room you want to accent.  What is the primary color?  Once you’ve determined this, select an arrangement that features mainly flowers of the opposing color.  This will make the arrangement seem brighter and make it really stand out.

Location is also important.  If you set your flowers on a small end table in the corner of the room, they may not add as much color as you’d like.  Instead, place them in a prominent location or in a spot that is lacking diverse color.  This will make it easier for the flowers to be seen, which is the ultimate goal.

If you’re uncertain what color accents to add to your home or office, take a look online for a color wheel or for information by professional decorators.  Colors opposite each other on the color wheel contrast greatly, which is what you want when adding color accents.  But you don’t always have to follow this rule.  Take a look at the room, keep your favorite flowers in mind, and just have fun adding color.
