During the warmer months, many people enjoy spending time outdoors on their patio.  If you’re one of these people, you know how nice it is to be comfortable while outdoors.  Creating an outdoor oasis is important if you plan on spending a lot of time outside, especially if you plan on eating dinner outside or having others over for an evening of outdoor conversation and food.

First of all, comfortable seating is a must.  Chairs with weather-proof cushions, gliders, and swings all make for great places to sit.  You may also want to get a set of comfortable chairs and a table for your patio, especially if you plan on eating outdoors often.  Situate these chairs on your patio so that it’s easy to converse with each other and so that everyone will be within reach of a table or other place to sit a drink or snacks.  You may also want to arrange seating with a mind to watching the sunset or for looking out at your garden or for looking out at the stars.

You may also want to surround your outdoor oasis with plants and flowers.  Potted plants and flowers can really make your patio area feel alive and look great.  Remember, of course, that you have to keep them watered in the heat.  If you don’t, they may start to wilt or even die, and that will greatly affect your outdoor oasis. 

Lighting is important, too.  You don’t want harsh overhead lights.  Instead, go for softer lighting.  If you can’t change out your overhead lights for a softer glow, think about adding lanterns or even outdoor lamps.  You may even be able to turn on the lights in the room behind your patio and use that lighting.  Candles and torches are another way to go, especially if they are the kind designed to repel insects.

If you put a bit of thought into each part of your outdoor oasis, you’ll find that it’s very easy to turn your patio into a place of escape.  Grilling, watching sunsets, or just relaxing outdoors will become so much more fun when your outdoor oasis is complete.
